Newsletter No 12 | June 2021

Hello,

How is your week going? We are already in June and in the next few weeks, we will be talking about the half-year mark. How are you doing with your goals for the year?

For me, it’s been some wins and some misses, but this week has been a great time to reflect on how much of the promises I made to the good people of Oyo State I have been able to fulfil. In the past week alone, I have visited Saki, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa and various parts of Ibadan, commissioning projects and listening to the feedback from the people of Oyo State. In fact, I didn’t think I would be able to send a newsletter this week because of how activity-packed my week has been, but I thought a few lines are better than none 🙂

As I said before, when I wanted to enter politics, my friends were very concerned. While some doubted “one man’s ability to change a country,” for others it was a question of whether I could survive the scrutiny in public service. They were worried that I may not be able to endure the slander and mudslinging that came with constantly being in the public eye. Indeed, there have been times I read comments that people make about my motives online and I wonder how they arrived at such horrible conclusions.

But the strongest motivation for me to continue to do what I do is that I believe God created me an Ibadan man, from Oja’ba, with roots in Ajia for a reason. He also blessed me with more than I need for a reason. So, even if I, as one man cannot change the country, I will still accomplish God’s purpose for my life; that I use what he has given me to benefit as many people around me as possible.

I see this service as a privilege that I do not take for granted because I know that there are many like me in Nigeria who genuinely want to contribute something to nation-building.

Sometimes, the difference between getting this opportunity or not is simply time and chance. I mean see how long it took me to get elected.

So, for those of you genuinely asking if I am going to continue working diligently for the good people of Oyo State, my answer is, “yes!” I was not forced into this role. It was a well-thought-out decision which I believe has God’s backing.

Let me stop here for now.

Talk to you again Soon
