Newsletter No 35 | April 2022
Hello,
How have you been?
We are now firmly in Q2 of 2022, and we will be at the half-year mark before you know it. The wheels of politics and governance keep churning and throwing up surprises daily. Things often move too fast to keep up. So really, how have you been doing?
Thank you all for your tremendous expressions of support since I presented myself to run for a second term in office. I do not take your affirmations for granted. When I read your prayers and words of encouragement, I feel justified to have tried again and again to serve you. Once again, thank you.
I have started my reading of the month. Last time, I introduced the book to you, Stephen M.R. Covey’s, “The Speed of Trust. The One Thing That Changes Everything”. A quarter way through the book, I can say that I agree with a lot of the author’s thoughts, especially when it comes to rebuilding trust. I concur when he says it is possible to rebuild trust even when there has been a trust deficit because I have seen it happen in the past three years.

When we came into government, many people did not really believe many things we said we would do. In fact, some outrightly said it was impossible. They looked at our manifesto and discountenanced it as one of those writings politicians make and then disown when it is time for implementation.
It has taken us three years of building, but now I can see the turnaround. They have gone from calling our governance audio to admitting that they can see visuals. They have shifted from asking how long we can keep up with paying salaries on the 25th of every month to saying these are just the bare minimum. We promise to maintain this standard so that those who succeed us will not lower the bar.
They have moved from saying we are only completing other people’s projects to acknowledging that we have started and completed world-class projects. The bus terminals at Challenge and Ojoo, which we will commission next week, stare at them in the face. They have continued to adopt policies and programmes that we pioneered. And after saying we do not know what we are doing, they have come to appreciate the superiority of data, science and logic.
But, it is not enough to endorse us. Words should be matched by action. If you do not have your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) yet, today is a good time to start the process. Your votes will count, but you first have to cast them. So, visit the INEC Continuous Voter Registration portal to pre-register
On this same portal, you can update your voter registration information, transfer your voter registration to another polling unit, replace your damaged or lost PVC and find Registration Centres near you.
I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail when campaigns begin.
Talk to you again Soon
We’re sharing behind-the-scenes content, interviews, and testimonials all month.
