The Business of Governance

Newsletter No 119 | August 2025

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us at the International Tourism Summit #ITSOyoState2025, especially our esteemed investors who graciously took time out of their schedules to attend. Your presence truly elevated the event and reinforced that Oyo State is on the right path in repositioning tourism as a growth driver.

The summit provided an invaluable platform for face-to-face engagement, including productive conversations over lunch. It was a rare and meaningful opportunity to align interests, exchange ideas, and build relationships directly with key stakeholders and investors.

One of the major highlights for me was the clarity delivered through the State Government presentations. The well-structured pitches for five investment-ready sites painted a clear and compelling vision of what is possible — and why now is the time to get involved.

In the coming weeks, investors who attended will enjoy the benefits of their summit attendance, especially the first-mover advantage as we release the Expressions of Interest (EOI) announcements and forms. We also encourage all interested parties to download our Deal Book, which outlines key opportunities in detail.

In continuing our quest to make Oyo State the investor destination in Nigeria, following the summit, we concluded a productive visit to Nairobi, Kenya, where we met with the UN-Habitat team and paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. These engagements helped strengthen bilateral ties and open doors for future collaborations.

We also explored new city developments on the outskirts of Nairobi, gaining insights into urban planning and infrastructure innovations that could inspire development within the Ilutuntun Business District in Akinyele LGA.

As we continue to serve the good people of Oyo State, we are committed to transforming time and resources invested into measurable socio-economic growth for our dear state.

Before I close, I am pleased to inform you that our Six Years in Office reports are now live on my website. These annual updates—found within the Omituntun 2.0 Scorecard—reflect our commitment to transparency and provide an opportunity for all citizens to hold us accountable.

As I said at a recent event, when we make promises, we don’t just leave them to chance—we strategise to ensure that our promises made become our promises kept.

Thank you once again to all who participated and contributed to our shared progress. We look forward to continuing this journey with clarity, accountability, and ambition.

Talk to you again soon.
