Newsletter No 39 | June 2022
Hello,
How are you? It’s been an interesting past two weeks in politics, and everyone is gradually settling back to day-to-day governance matters. Here in Oyo State, we have been celebrating three years of landmark achievements by inspecting and commissioning projects. We are still in an anniversary mood, so you can look forward to the commissioning and flag-off of more projects up until August 2022.
I also thought this would be a good time to get back to reading. And so, for the remainder of this month and perhaps July, I have decided to read the book, “Fake History: Ten Great Lies and How They Shaped the World” by Otto English. (I have heard the name Otto English is a pseudonym.)

The book’s title makes me think that perhaps one reason humankind generally does not learn from the past is that, sometimes, the history we know is a lie. And so, it behoves those who know the true facts to document and share history in real-time.
Even with documented evidence, people will still use lies and propaganda to deceive people and create unreal perceptions. Think of all the times Nigerians have been deceived into believing some messiah was coming to save them. For this reason, they voted for personalities with no track record of leadership and sustainable development. They simply believed great lies.
The book itself has mixed reviews. Some thought it was great, and others thought it was trash. Well, I’m about to find out and tell you what I think afterwards. Maybe I will abandon the book as some did or read to the end. We’ll see. Do read along with me, and let’s see if we arrive at the same conclusions.
Speaking of trash, we have set up a new architecture for waste management, and we believe this will help end the perennial issues we have been facing in Ibadan. As usual, we are open to feedback, comments and suggestions. Do contact our feedback service on social media and let us know how things are working out.
Before I go, let me also mention that one of the highlights of the past two weeks was celebrating my darling wife, Ominini’s 50th birthday. I thank everyone who came from far and wide to rejoice with us on her special day and all who sent birthday greetings on and offline.
Talk to you again Soon
We’re sharing behind-the-scenes content, interviews, and testimonials all month.
