Newsletter No 55 | January 2023

Hello,

It’s now just a little over 40 days to the elections. When I wrote to you last time, I spoke about our proposed visit to Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West, Akinyele, Lagelu and Egbeda LGAs as part of our campaigns. We also visited Irepo, Olorunsogo, Oorelope and Saki East LGAs. I want to thank our supporters in these communities for being phenomenal. Seeing you come out in your numbers to show solidarity is overwhelming. I can only say thank you.

But really, how have you been the past two weeks? What have you been up to?

As for me, aside from being on the campaign trail, I have had a few days of ‘rest’ where I have continued governance activities. For instance, earlier today, we took a significant step in our quest to achieve sustainable development in our healthcare sector.

I am sure that I have mentioned the facility that we are accessing from the French authorities. We are getting 55 million Euros for an infrastructural upgrade of our health centres. As we have always maintained, when we borrow, we do not take loans for consumption but for capital projects.

Also, this facility from the French Government will run for 40 years with a grace period of 15 years, and the interest rate is very low at 0.009%. We even have a clause in our agreement which says that if we manage this facility cost-efficiently, the loan will be converted to a grant.

So, if you are still undecided about why you should vote for us again, here is another reason to do so. We will, under Omituntun 2.0, be upgrading the infrastructure at the Ring Road State Hospital, Adeoyo and in the following General Hospitals in five zones: Eruwa, Igbeti, Igbo Ora, Oyo and Iseyin in addition to equipping our Primary Healthcare Centres, courtesy of this loan. You certainly do not want someone else who does not even understand the thinking behind Sustainable Development to execute this project. And if you are to vote, you need your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

If you have not yet collected your PVC, you still have three days before the window to go and pick up closes. Get your PVC and get ready to vote for Omituntun 2.0. And if you are still hesitant to vote for us, you will surely be convinced after we release our Roadmap to Sustainable Development in Oyo State (2023-2027). This document should be on my website by February 1, so you can visit to see our plans to make Oyo State even greater.

Remember, our plan under Omituntun 2.0 is premised on strategic development that will meet our immediate needs, and it also envisages future developmental challenges and indices.

So, check our roadmap once it is published and then share your thoughts simply by replying to this email.

Talk to you again soon
