HE Seyi Makinde speaks to the legacy our founding fathers left and how our 66th independence is a time to reflect on how to get back on track.

In his newsletter 146, HE Seyi Makinde shares a peek into the Reset Agenda with its four pillars: Education, Economy, Security and Socio-Political Development

HE Seyi Makinde defines Reset Nigeria as a national movement to rebuild systems and institutions that repeatedly produce poor outcomes, using petroleum pricing to illustrate his approach: interrogate the underlying system rather than accept the conventional policy choices presented as the only alternatives.

As official campaigning for the 2027 presidential election begins, HE Seyi Makinde introduces Reset Nigeria as his central campaign proposition, promising stakeholder engagement across all six geopolitical zones and a manifesto that explains proposed interventions, funding, implementation and measurable outcomes rather than relying on slogans and promises.

Against positive national GDP figures and Oyo State’s strong half-year revenue performance, HE Seyi Makinde argues that economic growth should be judged by whether people experience lower costs, better services and greater opportunities, using planned electric buses to illustrate the distinction between government spending and measurable outcomes.

Following the safe return of the Oriire abductees, HE Seyi Makinde turns to a Federal High Court judgment rejecting an EFCC demand for years of unspecified Oyo State records, arguing that accountability must operate within the rule of law while reaffirming that he intends to pursue his presidential bid.

With the abducted Oriire pupils and teachers still in captivity, HE Seyi Makinde reports continued rescue operations, a temporary 16-hour curfew in 10 LGAs bordering Old Oyo National Park and preparations for safe school reopening, while announcing that delivery of Oyo State’s surveillance aircraft had been delayed by final technical procedures.

Twenty-seven days after pupils and teachers were abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinle communities in Oriire LGA, HE Seyi Makinde addresses public anxiety over their continued captivity, saying operational details cannot be disclosed while security agencies continue efforts to secure their return.
