INTERVENTIONS UNDER THE SUSTAINABLE ACTIONS FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY (SAfER)
N1 billion to 3,525 smallholder farmers as low-interest loans.
Support in the form of farm inputs to:
- 1,000 fish farmers – 3.000 bags of 15kg fish feed
- 2,000 poultry farmers – 800 metric tonnes of grains received from the Federal Government
- 1,000 pig farmers – two 50kg bags of feed and two bottles of disinfectant.
- 2,500 small and large ruminant farmers – 2 bags of 50kg Brewery Dried Grains (BDG)/Wheat Offal and one block of salt. The government is also carrying out Statewide free vaccination of 250,000 sheep/goats and 120,000 cattle with anthrax, CBPP and PPR-vaccines starting from 15 May, 2024.
AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICES DEPARTMENT
ACTIVITIES BETWEEN 29 MAY, 2023 AND 29 MAY 2024
In collaboration with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security a total of 674 farmers were trained on emergency training and demonstration of climate resilient practices in Maize (80), Tomato (80), Cassava (45), Yam (40), Cowpea (40), Poultry (25), Sheep and Goat (30). Also, there was empowerment of farmers under National Poverty Reduction Growth Strategy with Crop, Poultry and Fish inputs (250).
- A total of 135 farmers from 674 farmers particularly those who participated in the Cassava, Yam and Cowpea trainings were empowered with one bag of NPK Fertilizer each.
- In August 2023, a total of 95 Youth and Women farmers were trained on emergency training on processing, packaging, value addition and utilisation of Yam (50) and Cassava (45).
- In August 2023, a total number of 80 Youth and Women Farmers were trained on emergency training on all season tomato production.
- In August 2023, 39 Maize farmers were empowered with Maize starter pack comprising of 4kg Maize seed 25kg NPK Fertilizer, 3 litres of Pre-emergence herbicide and 3 litres of post-emergence herbicide.
- In September 2023, a total of 30 Youth and Women farmers were trained and empowered on small ruminants’ production (2 goats each: 1 male, 1 female were giving out to each farmer).
- In October 2023, a total of 25 Youth and Women farmers were trained and empowered on Broiler production.
- In February 2024, a total of 250 Farmers including Youths and Women were trained and empowered with Crops, Poultry and Fish inputs under the National Poverty Reduction Growth Strategy.
Collaboration with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)
- 338 farmers, processors and aggregators were trained by the Business support component of GAIN’s Strengthen Nutrition in Priority Staples (SNIPS) Project. To date a total of 825 farmers, processors and aggregators have been trained.
- The Bio-fortification component of GAIN’s SNIPS Project has empowered 482 farmers in four Local Government Areas namely; Ido, Afijio, Oyo West and Iseyin involved in the project with inputs such as Vitamin A Cassava Stem cuttings, Orange Flesh Sweet Potato Vines, inorganic fertilizer (for Cassava Farmers), Foliar fertilizer (for Sweet Potato Farmers) and herbicides.
- In March 2024, 4 processors from Oyo State won a grant of Three Million Naira (₦ 3,000,000) each in the GAIN Micro-grant award for year 2023. To date, a total of five processors have won GAIN Annual Micro-grant award.
Collaboration with GIZ/GIAE
The partnership with GIZ started seven years ago and the project close out in March 2024. To date a total number of 39,440 farmers were trained on Farmer Business School (FBS) (22,690 male, 16,850 female and 15,103 youths). Also, a total of 38,972 farmers were trained on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP on Cassava Value Chain).

- The World Sàngó Festival, Òyó was approved for inclusion in the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative List for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the 18th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Kasane, Botswana in December 2023.
- The Ministry of Culture and Tourism approved the establishment of boat cruising, boat regatta, yachting and other forms of aqua tourism at Eleyele Lake by a private company, Royal Entertainment Cruise.
- The Ministry of Culture and Tourism approved the establishment of water transport of Eleyele Lake to link about 120 communities surrounding the lake such as Apete, Eleyele, Alakuta and Ijokodo by Kosoko Water Transport Services. This aids transportation system in Sango – Eleyele – Ijokodo axis and environs and also promotes aqua tourism.
- With a view to boosting internally generated revenue, providing employment opportunities, and improving efficiency in the tourism sector, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism appointed consultants to manage Iyake Suspended Lake, Iyamapo/Bata Erugba/Agbele Tourism Cluster, Idere Hills Tourism Cluster and, Ironsi-Fajuyi Memorial Parks and Garden.
- The rehabilitation of Captain Bower’s Tower; rehabilitation of two blocks of four (4) toilets, rehabilitation of the spiral staircase and painting of the tower and provision of water supply was executed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism funded by a private individual and a private organisation.

- The Residents’ Registration & Research Department, in collaboration with the Management Information Centre is currently working on the ongoing State Residency Card Project which is aimed at capturing biometrics data of residents of the State with a view to using same in the planning of socio-economic development of the State. As at May, 2024, the Programme has captured over 300, 000 out of the target of 500,000 people projected for a year.
- Development of a Concept Note for the production of a Poverty Map for the State to facilitate appropriate and adequate welfare programme for the Residents of the State.
- Production of Social Protection Policy (SPP) document (with the support of UNICEF) to guide implementation of social protection programmes in the State.

To this end we conducted a sensitisation workshop on Open Government Partnership (OGP) Process for both the State Actors and Non-State Actors in Oyo State as well as the inauguration of both the State Actors and Non-State Actors into the State Steering Committee (SSC) for the OGP Process in Oyo State.
